SAP Identity Management (IdM) will be discontinued on December 31, 2027. As of this date, SAP will cease maintenance for the solution. A one-time, paid extension until 2030 is possible, but it is primarily intended as an emergency option. Additionally, there will be no successor product for SAP IdM.

For companies, this means they must proactively address the challenge  of ensuring continuous IdM operations. This includes mitigating security risks, complying with regulatory requirements, and protecting and migrating existing investments in SAP IdM.

SAP recommends transitioning to tools such as SAP Identity Access Governance (IAG), SAP Identity Provisioning Service (IPS), SAP Identity Authentication Service (IAS), and SAP Identity Directory Service (IDS) for managing SAP systems. However, these cloud-based tools do not offer the full functionality of a central IdM system for every company and are not designed for managing non-SAP systems.
